Cake Poker Review

Cake Poker was started in 2004, but the poker room didn’t launch until 2006. The owners of Cake Poker wanted to develop a poker software suite that could compete with some of the other poker networks in the industry. Cake Poker doesn’t have a ton of player traffic, but they’ve been able to grow slowly since opening due to licensing their software to partner sites. Quite a few poker sites have leased the Cake Poker software and all of the sites pool traffic together to make the games busier.

Editors' Choice - OPRM.com Recommended Real Money Poker Room in 2012

Why is this Poker Room Recommended by OPRM.com Editors?

Soft competition in real money games, huge sign up bonus, excellent poker software and several deposit/withdrawl options. Several exciting promotions for active players and there is an integrated casino as well. Overall pretty good online poker experience.

Cake Poker operates in Curacao and is also licensed by the Government of Curacao to operate an online poker network. Cake Poker has never been one of the top 5 poker sites in our industry, but more and more US players have been moving to the network after Black Friday. Cake Poker offers quick payouts to players in the USA considering the processing issues US poker sites deal with and they also have quite a bit of traffic that keeps the games running 24/7 if you’re looking to play micro/low limit poker.

Cake Poker Bonus Overview

Every new player that completes their 1st deposit will receive 1 ticket to the $500 Freeroll for new depositors only. You’ll also be able to earn a 110% sign-up bonus for up to $600 on your 1st deposit. The bonus will be credited into your “Pending Bonus Balance” and in order to clear the Cake Poker bonus you need to earn FPP’s. Cake Poker will release the sign-up bonus in $5 increments each time you earn 83.33 FPP’s, which won’t take most of you guys that long.

Cake Poker Software

Cake Poker released Cake 2.0 a little while ago and the software update was much needed. The new Cake Poker lobby is a lot better and there are now multiple layouts and plenty of filters to ensure you don’t waste any time. One of the nice features at Cake Poker is that you can change your display name, so players can’t keep track of where you’re playing. You can play multiple tables at Cake Poker and with the new software you can resize the poker tables however you’d like with custom filters.

Cake Poker has a great web based hand history feature and you can also send your hand histories to yourself or anyone else. The hand histories are in-depth and will help new players find leaks very quickly. The new Cake Poker software is definitely a major improvement from the original software suite they had, but it still doesn’t compare to the best software suites in the industry. If you live in the USA and need a great poker room Cake Poker should definitely be on your shortlist.

Cake Poker Games & Tournaments

Cake Poker doesn’t offer a wide array of poker games like some competitors do, but their selection isn’t that bad. You can play a few poker games including Holdem, Omaha and Omaha Hi/Lo in all three limits (No Limit, Pot Limit, Fixed Limit). Cake Poker also offers players the ability to play war and blackjack. The side games are lots of fun and offer a nice break from the grind of playing poker all the time. Cake Poker doesn’t have lots of player traffic, but they do offer ring table games at the micro/low limit level around the clock.

You won’t be able to play in huge MTT’s with 1000’s of players at Cake Poker, but they do have a nice selection of daily S&G’s and smaller MTT’s. You can play regular tournaments, turbo tournaments, bounty tournaments and satellite tournaments to various live poker events around the world. Cake Poker does regularly offer guaranteed prize pool tournaments with prize pools in the $10K - $25K range, but you won’t find anything in the $1M+ range like you can at some of the top poker rooms.

Cake Poker VIP Program & Promotions

Cake Poker has a fairly complex VIP program that offers tons of great rewards. There are 50 levels to the VIP program and multiple tiers on each level that you need to try and complete. To finish each tier and earn the rewards for that tier you need to earn FPP’s. Cake Poker also rewards players with Gold Cards and Gold Chips as you play and you can use these to earn lots of rewards such as access to exclusive tournaments and much more.

Cake Poker focuses on their VIP program and most of the promotions will revolve around their loyalty program. You can earn extra Gold Cards and Gold Chips during promotions and much more. Cake Poker also runs various satellites to live events and they always seem to release fun promotions where everyone has the chance to win a prize regardless of how much poker they play online.

Cake Poker Overall Summary

Cake Poker is one of the top 5 poker networks still accepting players in the USA. Cake Poker actually pays out relatively quickly and one thing you can be sure of is that they aren’t closing down anytime soon. As long as they stay out of the DOJ’s way they should remain one of the top up and coming poker rooms in the USA plus they have tons of experience.
